Description of Service

Back your files up securely to an offsite secure backup location.  Protect your home PC or small business computers against data loss with our computer files backup service. 

You can back up your data anytime you choose.  Data transfer from your computers to the data center is transmitted over the Internet encrypted for its security.  Should you need to restore a single file or multiple files, this can be completed over an Internet connection as well.

Multiple copies, or versioning for security, of files are stored.  At least three versions of your files are resaved.  This will allow you to restore an earlier ‘clean version’ if the version saved last happens to be corrupted or infected by an undocumented virus.

General Hosting storage facilities meet our specified standard. This includes but is not limited to reliable bandwidth, redundant smoke detection and fire retardation systems. Multiple onsite generators ensure power reliability.  The building is protected with security, and requires keycard to be accessed.

Customer data is secured on high quality mirrored disk hardware computers with error checking software. These data servers are housed behind a high security firewall. All servers are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through proprietary alert systems. Staff are available at all times.

How Much Space Do I Need?

Position your cursor on the MY DOCUMENTS folder, right click your mouse, and select PROPERTIES.  This will let you know the size of your data files folder.

Instructions to Backup & Restore Files

Open your Internet Explorer browser
Select FILE / OPEN
Enter https://securedatabackup.generalhosting.com
Check the box OPEN AS WEB FOLDER
A window will pop up and ask for your username and password: key them in. 
You can select web files and folders on your hard drive and drag/drop them there, or vice-versa.
For a fastest and most reliable backup process, select only recently modified files, and copy these only.
